SMG Metrocops not taking cover
SMG Metrocops not taking cover
As per title. I'm unable to get SMG Cops to take cover. However, shield-bearing ones do take cover.
Any clue as to why that happens?
Joe was afraid of the evil rebels. He always carried a shield with him, and hid behind rubble to hide away from the enemy.
Jack thought Joe was a tool, and thought form was much more important than safety. So he just kept to his SMG, and standing around all important and bossy.

Re: SMG Metrocops not taking cover
VERY SIMPLE
Metro cops (excluding riot shields), do not have a cover animation
Take it from me, i asked the devs before, they said they don't have one

Youtube creator, twitter ranter, i actually somehow made the developers add something to not make me forget about flags...

Re: SMG Metrocops not taking cover
Well, that sounds.. fairly fixable to me. As it is, Shield-Metrocops do T-pose sometimes when in cover.PCreeper1 wrote:VERY SIMPLE

Though, all of Valve's humanoid NPCs have the same skeleton, don't they? Borrowing the cover animation from other units shouldn't be too much work.
EDIT: Actually, I just checked, and the standard police animations for hl2 do contain cover activities for the SMG.
(ACT_COVER_SMG1_LOW) and the ACT_TRANSITION activities for crouch -> stand and vice versa. Should all be in the police_animations.mdl file, aswell.

Re: SMG Metrocops not taking cover
I actully really want them to have cover it will make CPs more useful and it goes nicely with my Riot cop.

Re: SMG Metrocops not taking cover
Any word on this from the Devs? It's a rather annoying issue for those who make actual use of cover.

If I remember correctly, it doesn't have a cover/duck animation for shooting with a pistol.Varen wrote:Any word on this from the Devs? It's a rather annoying issue for those who make actual use of cover.

Pistol-cops where removed a while ago, now they all have shields or SMGs.Sandern wrote:If I remember correctly, it doesn't have a cover/duck animation for shooting with a pistol.Varen wrote:Any word on this from the Devs? It's a rather annoying issue for those who make actual use of cover.
Though, they do have an SMG cover animation, you use it for the shield unit

-- SMG Cover
-- Pistol Cover
Though perhaps you mean the cover-firing animations?
Well, they're there. They look a bit weird because they're designed to be used with actual cover, so the CP actually stands up to fire from their cover, then goes low again.
-- Pistol Aim
-- Pistol Aim Covered
Though overall, I'm fairly sure that them standing up a little to fire then ducking back in cover is not such a big issue. Personally I actually like it, and even if for some it might look odd, compared to being unable to get the bonus from cover points gameplay wise I'd rather take the odd anim over the dead units!
Re: SMG Metrocops not taking cover
I enabled cover on the metro police for next update, although I don't really like how they stand up when shooting from cover (but I guess the cover effect/particle is enough indication).
Re: SMG Metrocops not taking cover
Well, someone with the time to do so could cherry pick the cover anims of the Combine Soldiers and compile them with a metrocop model. If you have any modeller who's apt at handling these models, you could ask them to do so.Sandern wrote:I enabled cover on the metro police for next update, although I don't really like how they stand up when shooting from cover (but I guess the cover effect/particle is enough indication).
