If the matches before your schedule end early enough your match will begin righr after. The time between each match will be decreased in the process, so everyone has to be ready.

We apologize for not hosting the tournament this weekend.

I was unable to come, so I had to ask that someone else does host while I'm away, but it seems like the tournament didn't go on.
Can anyone (devs) replace me there? All whats needed is to let some players play their games and it will be done.

Rules: best out of 2 (that is 3 games max, first to reach 2 wins passes, the losers are sent to losers bracket)
The games below would need a new schedule.

17:00 / 13:00 /

Including the games that were planned for delay today:

18:00 / 14:00
Handsome Jack vs Phantom_Bator

21:00 / 16:00 /
Stronglime vs A Misunderstood Canadian
Call Pandango over if needed, he might be able to come.

I think the tournament should have a looser structure and require less management.

The first issue is the schedule. We can't rely on players following it, and I'm not sure if they know what do when it's their time to play. We spent a lot of our time tracking down people, and there was confusion with time zones. I think there should just be a deadline for people to play their matches. Players would contact their opponent and set up their own time to play.

The second problem is requiring another person to observe matches. I don't think anyone wants to be responsible for getting several players into lobbies on time and then sitting through matches when he has nothing to win from the tournament. For "proof," at least one player could simply record himself playing. There should also be a list of people they could contact who are willing to observe or record them. Each name would link to the person's steam account.

I think some people assume that all of developers started the tournament, but it was just MrDarkness. The rest of us aren't tournament admins. This list should help clear those things up, and show who can be contacted for help.

Example made-up list:
  • Willing to:
    Record/observe: JJ
    Stream/observe: Prosecuter
    Observe: Pandango, Blither
    Host game: Progsys
    Contact if issue: Mrdarkness
There is an xml file saved after matches, but I don't know if it includes wins/losses.
I tried the record command, but it couldn't play back the demo file:
  • Host_EndGame: CL_ParseClassInfo_EndClasses: server and client classes for 'PYCLASS134' use different datatables (server: DT_WarsWeapon, client: DT_BaseEntity)
It would be nice if the tournament was scheduled and sequential, so people could have a continuous stream of games to watch, but I don't think we have the resources for it. As fewer people are left in the tournament, it would be easier for players and streamers to figure out a time to play and allow everyone to watch it.

Last, I think a separate section for the tournament should be created on the steam forum. There are too many separate announcements and threads. A steam section would probably be more convenient for people to access, talk to each other, and follow. It might be a good idea to start a "phase 2" of the tournament this way to recap what happened before and to get the tournament moving again.

Besides awarding winners, I think people should be awarded somehow for recording and streaming.

This structure should allow the tournament to sort of run itself and make things easier on everyone:
  1. List open for people who want to record/stream games.
  2. Deadline created for players to play matches.
  3. Players and recorders/streamers contact each other or post on steam and decide when to play.
  4. Recorded games get posted on steam.
  5. Vods and tournament info on steam updated.
  6. New deadline created for next round of tournament.

Then we need to make players add their oponents and call the streamer(s) and observers over. The deadline is a good idea, especially if these players are last on the list and dont come for a long enough time.

So lets let players decide when to play on their own, but set a deadline for 1 week. I believe most people have more time than I do (I come back rather late - 20:00 - 22:00 GMT +3)
