[Idea] hlw_assault
hey i would like sander and his team(besides biotec) to know that biotec has accepted my idea for a map.
He will let u know on the progress.

Sounds interesting, however it would nice if you gave us more details rather than just hills and gate. Could you possibly describe the environment in detail for us?

I would also like some more information on map. Because if Im mapping it I will need to know terrain etc and this would be a big help.
Also im sure this is a Single player map yes? if so the one I had in mind Only had 1 hill and the combine or whoever spawned out of view then run/fly/tunnel into the battle area.

yes biotec this is rather a singleplayer map um cant get much into detail still sketching it out but i can give u a "resemblence of what i want it to look like.
Details:
forest/ruins map.
rebel entrenched
alot of debris from previous fighting,maybe a small house in the middle with a control point in like the backyard or something.
Very grassy,moderate amount of trees.
explosion debris.
black holes from explosions kinda like episode 1 type but without ash or anything just ruins and stuff.

That helps quite abit.
I have some ideas of my own but you will see these come alogn as I make it.

DATABASE:HLW_ASSAULT NOW IN DEVELOPMENT
Operation:Combine forces have discovered a rebel base located in Russia.
The rebels are making a defensive stand.
Terrain Details:Cold War base is filled with debris, fallen trees,crates,mortar shells.
Intel:Combine Force consists of dropships,bombardment materials, airstrikes, infantry platoons up and ready, and final wave consists of 2 STRIDERS.
SITREP:REBEL forces must defend HQ beacon until reinforcements have arrived, rebel gate defenses ready and waiting.
Advisor:Let the battle begin......................................................

Just a tip for the game in mind. You may want to edit the rpg rebel trooper for the striders because unless it is in a tight place where it can't escape or move around much then it won't fire rockets generally. Try to make them fire rockets like npcs' fire other weapons.

rpg rebels work probably in the the latest build i think...at least in some maps...

Then someone has to figure out a way to combat striders or they will be literally invincible. at the end of the game, unless you intend to die then or have to escape to a rally point to get the hell out of there.

well its liek starcraft mission 3 of the 1st terran campaign.
The terrans defend the base and wait for Mengsk, but instead of retreating and getting people out of there, dropships will bring in abotu 35 rebel trooper 20 rpg troopers and 10 medics,u mop up the rest of the combine.plus biotec said the map will be up and rdy for public release when a few more features come.

Of coarse they fire at striders, why wouldnt they?

In my version of v0.5 Discrate, rpg troopers that are built and are ordered to fire at a spawned 'unit_strider', just strafe around like they have smgs' but and are firing but hey don't fire. I have got them to fire only when I spawn them with the console in tight places where they can't move around much. I was asking whether fighter84 and/or Biotec had come across this problem and/or fixed it.
Also, when they do fire, they damage very little health but this is ok as there will probably be many rpg troopers dropped in at the end and striders' take a long time killing many infantry units without the expensive and time consuming secondary cannon fire of the strider.
