Re: Playtesters (now open)
I sent Discrate a fancy Private message regarding my willingness to help Playtest the Lambda wars mod.
Re: Playtesters (now open)
I have quite a-lot of time on my hands,
for testing with bugs and making suggestions and ideas I would say around 2-8 hours a day.
So I would love to be a "Play tester"

Re: Playtesters (now open)
Hello! I'm applying here for the playtester position, though I'd like to say that I have a specific penchant for strategy game design/balance.
Background in gaming
I've been around the RTS block for a while now, having played StarCraft since 1998 as a young kid. I followed the explosion of e-sports and in my prime scored a B- rating in StarCraft:BroodWar in 2003/2004 on the iCCup ladder (which was essentially top ~2% of competitive players at the time as the rating system was extremely bottom-heavy). RTS and music were pretty much all I did in my high-school days. Since then, I've grown older and can't bother trying to keep up with the competitive players anymore.
I used to play Counter-Strike 1.3-1.6 quite a bit around then and before, too, but stopped with CS:Source.
I've played other RTS games for fun since then, including a lot of Dark Reign, C&C:Red Alert, C&C3 and C&C:Tiberium Wars throughout my childhood. I've "played" tons of RTS games, but these are the ones that I spent any significant time on.
I've traveled to Anaheim for competition in StarCraft 2 during the beta days and got to visit Blizzard briefly during the alpha days to offer some opinion on balance at the time when Immortals could still be built from the Warp Gate.
:D:D At the time, I had a $10/h job working as technical support for a fan news site that covered the Korean Brood War scene. The balance testing stuff happened because I was associated with the right community had knew people living in San Francisco.
I have met many cool people who make a living off games, and have some insight into how differently-skilled players will read and play an RTS game. I also watch esports like it's american football.
I also secretly admire David Kim, and agree with 90% of his ideas and 100% of his approach.
Programming
I went to university for computer science, but haven't dabbled much in Python. It doesn't look too tough so I expect I should be able to express ideas through Python or test changes myself; I'm versed in C++, Java, some experience with LUA and do lots with PHP mostly. Preference for object-oriented design. I mostly use GIT, but I'm sure I'm better than to go breaking things in SVN.
Music
This is just a footnote to my application, as my impression is that you have your music department handled already - I'm dropping this here to let you know that I have this background. I write music, but have only really become set up for recording/digital in the past couple months. I have some $1000's in software and professional libraries and a formal background in theory. I play violin, bass guitar and drums. I've worked as a mastering agent for a sound-effect recording company for a brief time before all the esports stuff. Software used: Sonar X3, Sibelius, Finale and Pro Tools (M-Audio version).
Phew... thanks for reading.

I would like to apply to test this, thing is the times of which I can play are highly erratic (part time job). but I do like to break things in games.

Re: Playtesters (now open)
I'd like to apply as well. I am playing Lambda Wars since the 2.3.1 release, and I'd really like it if I could help in making of the mod. I usually spend all free time on computer, that is from 3PM to 10PM week, when I get up (up to noon, usually few hours before) to around 11PM weekend. I could spend a part of that time on testing without problems. I live in Poland (GMT+1). I have more of "local" playtesting experience, that means I helped out my friends and myself with testing. When I find a problem I work until it's solved, as far as I know how to solve it (nope, still didn't figure out dividing by 0). If it would be possible for me to participate in playtesting, I would happily do so. My forum accont is fresh, but that is because I am rather slow in making forum accounts.
