Error when Starting Up

I get that error when I try to start up HL2 Wars. I have The Orange Box and launched everything in there to be sure but it still doesn't work.

Looks familiar. Have you tried restarting steam? Sometimes I get errors similar to this and a steam restart fixes it. You may also want to clear steam cache, there should be instructions on how to do it on the steampowered.com support section.

I tried looking for it at steampowered.com's support section but the directions it gave me only applied to games, not Third Party Mods.

Got the same problems as you some times.it could be your vista. I re installed my os to Windows XP and no errors so far.

Its not vista related. I have vista and never had ANY issues with HL2wars. Its most likely a installation issue.

It means something is wrong with your Episode two installation.

Sometimes (it's worked once for me) you do not only need to have all game installed, but also a proper save file for each of them. I'm not trying to disprove Sander, but you could try starting and saving a game of ep2.

I had an engine error very similar to yours and it was related to the cache file. A guy told me to Right click Half-Life 2: Episode 2 > Properties > Local Files tab > Verify Integrity of game cache. This solved the crashing problem for me.

I get this error too but I did like you said but i still get the error. Should i try reinstalling episode 2, because I really dont want too. My internet connection over steam is like 80 kb/s :(

Also try verifying "Source sdk base - orange box" in the tools tab.

well i tried everything so i decided on redownloading hl2:ep2...AND IT WORKED!!! Too bad it only took me 14h 42m 29s :lol:
