Changes, and Unit / Building Suggestions

--Night Idea--

Add a feature so during the night, unit vision is reduced making for stealth more possible with more units, I.E. Being able to scurry smg units along between enemy patrols.

--Map Size Upgrade--

Sadly, despite the fact this game isn't supposed to be big, some of these suggestions would require a larger map size, or just use larger maps for fewer players.
--Building Ideas--

Point Light / Lamp (For combine + Humans, but different varients) (Illuminates around)
Floodlight (Turret that players can Aim / "Patrol" To look over certain Areas)

--Abilities--

SLAM (Lazer Tripwire for combine and Rebels) (If hooked to rebels explosive trap, bigger boom)
Place Hopper Mine (Ability To place hopper mines with some troops)
Deploy RollerMine (Place a Rollermine)
Deploy Magnusson Device (Carryable by people armed with the gravity gun)

--Upgrades--

Arm Stunstick (Arms Metropolice with Stunsticks for melee)
Arm Crowbars (Arms Scouts / Other units with... Crowbars?)
Gravity Gun (Arms some people with the gravity gun) (Able to throw / Carry some objects.)
Cannon (Upgrades APC's (Resistance) to have a basic cannon on it instead of an HMG

I was playing this game, when I started thinking about how cool some of these units would be.

Does Small Damage And Lowers energy of enemy troops
Detonate (Explode in a small radius, 4 second delay, action disabled if converted)

--Synth Supersoldier--
Armed With an HMG
High HP
Plasma Ball Ability (Similar to the AR2)
Lockdown (takes 5 seconds to use, unit is waponless during the 5 seconds, enables Lock)
Locked (Unit is Imobile, but has higher resistance and damage)
Unlock (Takes 5 seconds, unit is weaponless during time, disables lock)


--Combine Apc--
Carries 3-4 combine
Decent - Fast Speed
Medium HP
Mounted HMG turret
Rocket Volley Ability (Fires off 6-10 rockets in a certain range)

--Recovered Human Apc-- (A wrecked version is seen in Hl2 once or twice)
Carries 6-8 People
Decent Speed
Slightly lower HP
HMG + Floodlight (Illuminates areas looked at during the night)


--Combine Dropship--
(Yes, i know these are technically in the game, but the ability to make some that work would be nice)
Carries 8-10 combine or 1 strider
Fast Movement
Upgrade for an HMG turret


--Mil Mi 8 Recovered Aircraft-- (Seen in the end of Episode 2)
Carries 10-12 people
Fast Movement Speed
Flares Ability to ward off rockets

-*-*-*- Map Ideas -*-*-*-

Railroad Crossing - (Large map with railroad networks passing through, train danger)
RavenHolm - (Decent sized map filled with zombies)
Railroad Fight (Small Map, 1v1 Combine vs Resistance Trains, tracks arent steady, trains weave back and forth)

*-*-*-* Special Gamemode Idea *-*-*-* (This is really unlikley due to the games nature compared to this)

Resistance Movement

The Gamemode is set around 2 kinds of players, the combine overlord (1 player) and the players (the rest)

In the game, the overlord controls all the combine units, and can attempt to control the people of the city they are controling, meanwhile, the players are trying to blend in with the AI, while also "Collecting" resistance members to help them fight. AI are all "People" / civillians who wander around the map doing jobs and responding to the civil protection if neccessary.

-*- Inventories -*-

A special thing about this gamemode (And also the issue) is that players / resistance members controlled by players all have miniature inventories, so they are having to manage their "Resources" in order to overthrow the combine.
(Each AI / Human has 4 inventory slots, plus a hand slot)

-Here are some example items-

Ration Packets (Stacks up to 4)
Drinks (Stacks up to 8.)
Pistol (1x1 inventory, no stacking) (Looted off of civil protection) (Easier to hide) (7 round clips)
Pistol ammo (1x1, 24 ammo per box)
Smg (1x2 inventory, not stacking) (Looted off of heavily armed CP) (Normal issues to hide) (20 round clips)
Smg ammo (1x2 inventory, no stacking) (80 ammo per box)
Nail Boxes (1x1, used to help barricade)
Plywood (6x6, must be carried in hands)
Cardboard Box (2x2 space in inventory, 2x2 storage space, cannot store other boxes) (Placed on ground)
Credit Slip (A card with virtual money on it, can be used to purchase things, max of $50 per card)
Cable roll (1x2) (can be used to hook up electrical cuircuits)
Moniters (2x2) (Can be hooked up with cameras to see extra stuff)
small Medkits (1x1) (Restores a small amount of a units health)
med Medkits (1x2) (Restores about half a units health)
CP Mask (1x1) (Keeps a unit from being poisoned from gas) (Alerts combine if worn alone)
CP Uniform (2x2) (When work with a mask, allows units to blend in with combine) (Alerts combine if worn alone)
Mail / Letters (1x1) (Stacks 4) (Writeable letters, either written by AI or players)
Journal (1x1) (A journal with 10 - 12 pages you can write in)
Grenades (1x1) (Its a grenade... what?)

-*- Extra Functions -*-

Resistance players will have to manage their groups hunger / thirst as well as their HP, this is in order to make sure players are constantly on the move, gathering something to keep the game a little actions.

Helpers: If you have a group of other AI under your control in the resistance (They work like normal game units) you can tell anyone under your control to have Normal Movement, or AI movement (This includes yourself) this allows your friendly's, aswell as you to blend in with surrounding AI.

Structures in this game-mode will have multiple floors, allowing for AI to have propper room for housing, work space ect.

Building isn't really "Building", it's more-so barricading for your own use. If a player blocks off a window with plywood, it's up to the overlord to spot the difference, if plywood is over a window, then the vission for units is blocked both ways, there are also some extra building functions for players to make a hideout.

Another form of barricading, is "Prop pushing" I.e. moving around items like metal desks to provide cover.
(Also, it's a good Idea to note that most objects that are containers actually can contain items.)

A bit of overlord help- The overlord, if you've read through all this, may seem to feel a bit "Cluttered" having to manage and look after all of these mass amounts of people and find just afew to win, but no worries, for just like the players, the overlord gets a similar action for all those under his control, meaning that combine will respond normally and wander around doing normal things, however, if a combine notices somthing unusual, he will report it to the overlord, to keep this from being op, there's a small Delay in the time it takes the combine to send the message. Combine will report in any suspicious activity to the overlord (Note, some AI might accidentaly be in the wrong place at the wrong time, so it won't be that a message from combine instantly garantees a player is there.


Yes, I know this is extremely unlikely, if not completely impossible, but I just thought i'd put it out for anyone who wishes to read it / think it may be a fun game-mode.

*-*-* Balancing Stuff *-*-* (This is no longer about the game-mode)

Make Striders a bit stronger: with their current health, they'd be pretty easy prey for an upgraded APC or Attack helicopter.
