Updates

I know you guys are probably too busy to update the main page, with your own lives (Perhaps even working on the mod!) but it would really boost the health of the community and interest in the mod if the homepage news updated every so often (like monthly) even if just to say "We are not dead.". Not necessarily any new content but just to say if you are making progress. The last update was in january, and well we are coming up to january again, and still no mention as to wether you are still making the mod.

we mentioned that a few times before, but it has no use of asking they are making progress, good progress we dont know, but we trust on it

the thing is with posting news it would be difficoult becouse most of the progress is coding and not visible in-game, atleast what i've heard
so updates probaly wont be in
but if we, the community, keep on mapping and upload to moddb more people maybe join the community and they know its not dead

I didn't mean that the news posts should say if they are actually making progress, but just a simple message like:

"Still Here 01/09/2024"

Just so that new people to the site know they haven't all left the project to die. But yes, if the community keeps active then it will grow, but the first thing they see if they google "hl2 wars" is the main (unupdated) page, giving the impression that not much is going on.

yeah your right, but if people look into the game they'll see its not dead, and even if they think its dead, when the next release will be out they will come, and play

Well hopefully either way we will get an update soon. Maybe the devs should get a twitter. That way the big updates stay on main page, but smaller we are alive updates could go on twitter and embedded on main page down the side?

I thought about this earlier, and I explained it to them.

However, your idea still stands that we SO MUCH NEED just a little bit of info on the HL2Wars Maine Page saying that it's not dead.

If you read the forums, there are tons of threads talking about what we are doing. We are not going to post a news post saying "We are alive" every month. That's what we are trying to avoid, we want to post something when we 1. have something good to show 2. when we are ready to do so.

I see no point in posting something like "we are not dead" on the main page.

Why does it matter if people think we are dead anyway? You guys don't understand that it doesn't matter, theres no point having heaps and heaps of people sticking around when everything is going slow at the moment, when it comes closer to release there will be heaps of news posts etc, everyone will come back.

The way you guys talk, if we don't post something saying we are not dead the whole mod is going to fail or something, that's not the case and tbh, i'm sick of these threads and sick of replying to them. There has been 10 threads like this yet people keep making them, theres a search feature on the forum you know.

maybe you can make it like, when you make a new half life 2: wars forum account, you will inmediatly get a message wich sais somethin like:

welcome to the Half Life 2: Wars feel free to ask what you want, but do keep in mind, the mod is in its early stages and very much alive. so theres no need to ask for updates on the main page or anything it will come later when the mod is nearing the release. now have fun on the forums

if they get that message instantly im sure there wont be any of these threads, and they know its not dead without you having to post any updates!

It's actually about me creating discussion in the general discussion forum, and i didn't create an account just for some stupid question, i signed up ages ago and thought i would start this thread. Being lazy doesn't have anything to do with it, it has just been a long time since i have used a forum since the black mesa forum died i didn't go on forums at all. How can people know if you don't let them learn? I also don't see how deleting all new accounts will solve anything either. It is also true that not many people read the forums, once they see the front page i assume they just leave, like i have done for ages, and you can see that this forum is a ghost town. Also, any new people that see this thread will probably get scared off. Not having a go, i appreciate the work you are putting into this mod...but how long does it take to set up a twitter account (Or anything??) just to say we are still working on it? I did say before i don't think it is a good idea to flush out the bigger news updates with mini "Hi we are still here ones" just somehow find a way to let people know without them coming to the ghostforum and thinking the whole place is pretty much deserted.

Yeah i misread that sorry i thought you meant accounts rather than threads, is there a link to the twitter page anywhere? Can't seem to find a mention of it in stickies.
