Vehicle interactions and how to spawn?

I made this topic so we can discuss on how should the soldiers interact with the vehicles (exept striders,and the wierd fighting plane).

I was thinking that we should have a vehicle factory and make things like the jeep from hl2 and that someone may enter it (or 2,1 driver the other gunner).




PS. how to spawn the helicopter and that armor car from combine.

If you do it that way I would really suggest that a driver is included without building a person and sending him to drive. Maybe a gunner as well. Other people could enter and play roles such as the side seat in the halo warthog.

yeah that would be good but atleast in some missions you should find empty vehicles and need to drive them to reach a destination fast or to add civil cars has rideable (those that arent destroyed YET)

Now there is a great idea. Empty unbuilt vehicles that are found like ammo caches in the field. It fits the Half Life 2 gameplay in that sense.

I think vehicles could work well in a similar way to heavy weapons in CoH

When you build say, a jeep, it comes with its driver and gunner. And personally I would have it so you could not load up other infantry (Unless its a troop carrier)

but if the crew die, or you find an abandoned vehicle (Misson based or not) then you can assign two people to take over the vehicle, changing it into one "jeep" unit?

Just an idea :)

interesting yeah E.G. a sniper (combine or rebel) could kill the driver/gunner instead of hurting the vehicle itself :D nice idea you have soru :wink:

Agreed! The people inside the vehicle should be individual units and not just a model attached to the vehicle. Great idea!

although, don't expect this kind of stuff to be around for a long time yet, it will be hard to implement. Particularly the AI

it seems to me as this is the perfect game for this considering how bullets are fired in this game i think that the snipers shouldt be able to wipe out the passengers so easy maybe give them a special abbility with a cooldown to kill passengers

It's going to be quite a while yet before Sander gets to tackling vehicles.

What I'm thinking right now would be coolest is for the Resistance to have two vehicles: a light fast-attack jeep/buggy that comes with a driver and gunner, and some sort of transport vehicle (a big flatbed truck or something) that can hold a bunch of rebels in the back who can shoot off of it / get some sort of cover bonus by being in it.
