i know while i do think consoles are better for fps games there is almost no room to say that rts games can do better on a console.

I saw some demo's on gametrailers and it really looks boring so far.

wow first halo Wars ingame footage i saw and i'm seriously not impressed. The HD screens looked good, but with the HD ingame footage it's quite clear that the units/buildings are so horrible at blending in with the surrounding that the designer needs to be shot at the spot. I mean deep purple buildings? What where they thinking!? All the units look way to clean to be battlefield units, i mean come on, is this a war or a display of fashion designs?

Only other thing what i saw was "epic" music desperately trying to keep you awake. The sounds of practically everything sucks so horribly, it has no power, no action whatsoever. Even that "Mac Blast" sucked horribly, i was expecting more than a meteor going straight down and then almost disappearing, again no power in it.

This will not be able to stand against Starcraft 2, I'd be amazed if it even stood up against Red Alert 3 (yes an EA game). "Milking the cow gone horribly wrong" should be the title of this game.

It would do great if it were designed for the PC...

I'd say that the FPS argument is kind of wrong. As long as something is built from the ground up to be in their respective platform, they'll generally play better on that platform. Like, for example, I played Prey for both the PC and X-box and found that the X-box version was simply better since the controls were implemented better on it. The RTS comment is dead on though, whenever I see one on a console, a part of me just dies.

Here's how I break it down:

General FPS: PC > Console
RTS: PC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Console
Sports Games: Console > PC
TPS (Third person shooter): Console > PC (Generally)
Puzzle: Console = PC
Racing: Console > PC (Without joystick/controller pad)
Management/Building: PC > Console

I highly agree.

That's the thing though, I HATE using a controller for a FPS game. I'd rather set some settings a little low than not be able to use a mouse and keyboard. Though, my computer is pretty good anyways.

TPS: Depends on how good the port is, because you cannot base yourself on a shitty port game.
Puzzle i dare you to play Portal.

The Prey argument is pretty mute as you can adjust every control you have on the pc and have buttons to spare, while on the console you are predefined to only a certain few. That's also why most tournament games are pc games because of the better controls (disregarding sports games).

The only console that could defeat the pc controls is the Wii, no other console will get close because all their controllers lack one thing: accuracy. You'll notice that most fps games on the console have an auto aim on to compensate that.

Also aceacs123, quite mute argument as well as the price vs controls isn't what is being debated here, it's the controls regardless of the price. If a console with a braincontroller came along for €1 million, it'd still be the best controller regardless of what the competing products have as controllability/price ratio.

Oblivion, I assure you, is not just a shitty "port". The reason that I say that Third Person Shooters are console territory is pretty much because of games like that compensate for the slower/poorer aiming caused by the controllers and maximizes the fact that all of the buttons are right there next each other, engineered specifically for gaming. The X-box version of Gears of War is so much better than the PC version (extra content aside), it's not even up for debate.

As for my Prey comment, what I meant to say is that it just didn't feel right playing it on a keyboard. I don't know, all Doom III engine games were like that for me. It's not controls, but more technical things like how fast a character moves and the type of aiming reticule and what not. You'd have to change the speed, animations, and the AI of every thing in the game in order for it to play well on the PC. Like I said, if you built a game from the ground up to play on a certain platform, it will play the best on that platform. The PC ports of Doom III paled in comparison to the X-box version.

Finally, I've played Portal, I loved Portal, but one game doesn't justify changing my whole opinion on the subject, since a puzzler, no matter what system it's on, generally can find light. The Portal argument also isn't fair, since it's a FPS puzzler. Anything that's a certain genre that's fused with an FPS doesn't count either.

I would also like to add this one:

RPGs: Consoles = PC

Like the puzzler, controls are never an issue.

i honestly think that rpg's like huxley and oblivion are way better on pc
1st argument:u have a mouse to select items and for consoles u gotta scroll down.
2:The way it plays out, i know that consoles seems better for oblivion but its not
3:we all know GRAPHICS,i have not seen more outstanding games then on an 22'' 1500 by 1650 screen resolution with a ati radeon 4870 1gb graphics card.
AWSOME dudue it runs crisis at 32fps on very high and aa8 thats good stats for a comp game.

I rest my case, anwya BACK TO THE DAMN POST.
This is about halo wars not a discussion of whats better someone alrdy made that anyway so yeh rip ensemble :(

Come on. They won't even let PC FPS gamers play online against console FPS gamers without giving the console kids autoaim, because a mouse and keyboard is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY more accurate, precise, and functional for aiming a crosshair / moving around. Sure, you might be able to spend less on hardware, but is it really worth it? Especially when for the price of a PS3 you can get a graphics card that blows all consoles out of the water.

I pretty much agree with somestupidloser. Fighting, racing, and sports games are better on console. FPS, RTS, and just about everything else is vastly superior on PC. RPGs can be fantastic on either platform.

Not really, PCs are superior in most ways to consoles.
playing is easier, the developers have much less restrictions (if you develop a console game, then it has to play well within the hardware (that eventually gets outdated)).
and i'm sure PCs hold a majority of the gaming market anyway (although i see that consoles are gaining ground)

You couldn't be more wrong. As hellspawn said pc's are more superior then consoles in many ways. Pc's have the capacity to have better graphics etc. Infact i have heard consoles days are numberd. All a console is, is a small computer but you can play on a television screen lol.
