Antlion Demo Trailer and Imminent Release

Summer is drawing to a close, and the Half-Life 2: Wars team has been hard at work since we last updated you all in March. We have a few items on the agenda for this news post. First, we are happy to announce that the highly anticipated Antlion demo is almost ready for release! We are in feature lock and currently all we are doing is balance tweaking and hunting down those last elusive bugs. You can expect the demo to be released to the public sometime next month. The Antlion demo, to refresh your memory, is a limited multiplayer release of HL2: Wars that features Antlions as the only playable human race, with a handful of different maps. Not only is it multiplayer, but the code is vastly improved so that the performance lag from our past releases is gone. Everything is more streamlined, efficient, and polished than before. We'll update you in coming weeks before the release to demonstrate and explain the gameplay more in-depth. For now, check out this trailer that BiotecVirus kindly made for us, with music from team sound designer sbeast64:

We'd also like to put out another request for team members! We are looking mainly for 3d artists and texture artists (both for model skins and world textures), so if you are experienced and have a respectable portfolio, get in touch with us on our forums or by email. If you have some other modding talent, feel free to drop us a line as well. We're always looking for talented people. Source engine experience is not required but strongly desired.

That's all for today, but we'll be in touch over the next few weeks leading up to the release sometime in September - we'll give you a more specific date a little bit further down the line. Stick around, because we're on the verge of our first public release since Summer 2008, more than two years ago!

Wow, I can't believe I'm not dreaming, it has been so long since the last release and now with the mod remade I'm shure it will kick ass!

I mean half life 2 RTS and multiplayer... Just amazing! this is the reason I stayed here to see stuff like this!

I'm very proud of the team, they made this possible it must have been one hell of a job making hl2 in a rts perspective and then restarting from scratch just to make it perfect for us, the communty the web all the modfans! well done!
