A questionaire
Just a general poll so i know what the community wants. I was going to make a poll that would be at the top of this thread, but apparently it's not possible to have multiple questions.
Storyline
1. What do you prefer?
- a story line that ends before HL2 started (i.e. before gordons return) (NO 7 hour war comments, i'm not going to do that)
- a story line that starts before HL2 and ends after the fall of the citadel started
- a story line that starts on the events of HL2.
2. Heroes
- yes
- no
3. What would you rather prefer as a location for the storyline's events:
- An undisclosed area (i.e. not known/mentioned)
- or suggest a location here and it will be considered
4. Would you rather prefer a storyline that ties in with HL2 or one that is unconnected tot it?
- Rather that it ties in with HL2
- Rather that it is unconnected to HL2
5. Should the storyline be compelling? (i.e. quite important)
- yes
- not necisarily
6. Should the Storyline be more important than gameplay?
- yes
- no
Gameplay
1. Races
- A campaign with only the possibility of playing the Combines
- A campaign with only the possibility of playing the Rebels
- Playing both (not necessarily perspective from both sides on the same events)
2. Speed (i.e. amount of resources)
- fast (many resources)
- slow (about the same as currently released maps)
3. Should the non-playable races be included and to what extent?
- Yes, give them a mission not tied in with the battle between rebels and combines.
- yes, but only add them as a small nuisance in maps where rebels and combine fight.
- no, get rid of them, i don't want zombies and antlions.

- Deserts

on an unrelated note: DAMNIT, COMBINE IS A PLURAL WORD, LIKE 'SHEEP', YOU DON'T NEED AN S AT THE END (- A campaign with only the possibility of playing the Combines)

hmm weird nobody like a storyline that starts before HL2s events and continues beyond the events of HL2.
Storyline Question 3 got scrapped and all questions after that got renumbered.

just to explain a few things:
Storyline question 4 is about if the storyline should be connected to HL2, so that means should the storyline have events that also happen in the real HL2 story (connected) or not (unconnected)
Custom Content question is if you want to see additional units or not, balancing isn't really a problem in singleplayer than it is in MP and i'm going for a Singleplayer campaign, not a MP one. It's just to see if people are open to new types of units like minelayers and such or if they are open to reskins/remodelled units.
Storyline question 4 is about if the storyline should be connected to HL2, so that means should the storyline have events that also happen in the real HL2 story (connected) or not (unconnected)

So is this going twards a map you're making, or just random collection? If its for inspiration I have a good series plotted out, but need an experienced mapper.

Also about the "Heroes", they'd be custom units or modified existing ones as i'm not going to use any HL2 storyline character on the battlefield.
