Low framerate

Post by sammage191 » Sat Dec 20, 2014 12:59 am

I've been playing this game and having fun, but I've been getting uncharacteristically low framerates for a source engine game. The game usually floats between the 20-50 range depending on the amount of units on the screen, the overrun gamemode and matches with more than 2-4 players are pretty much unplayable after a certain point. In most source games I average well past 200 frames per second (I remember 360 fps in gmod when i used to play that a lot) so this is very odd, lowering graphics also didnt help at all when i tried that.

My specs are:
AMD 6300
GTX 770
8gb ddr3 clocked at 1333mhz
7200rpm drive that I use for mass storage

Changing priority also didnt help

Greetings, sammage191!
This issue is known and can not be improved or fixed by a client, you would have to wait for a fix.
It is generally the optimization issues that will have to be covered.

As for now I can only suggest trying to play with this amount of frames.

FYI: the game had worse issues before update as of 15-th December.
I would like to ask you a question, though. Does your main menu lag?

P.S: you could try playing on smaller maps (city maps), they seem to produce the best playable performance.
Mr. Darkness: fucking game
Sandern: yeah, game sucks
Mr. Darkness: ya, the devs must be some total twats
Mr. Darkness: Who even names a game like that
Mr. Darkness: "Lambda Wars"
Mr. Darkness: fucking pathetic
Mr. Darkness: right?
Sandern: yes

My main menu lags a little bit, the framerate is fine according to fraps but it seems when i hover the buttons it takes a little bit to acknowledge that

You can try adding -disabledeferred to the launch properties. The deferred lighting seems to have a big impact on the frame rate, so I personally play with it off.

I might be mistaken but you may try validating your game cache files. Right-click in steam > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrinity of Game Cache...

Normally in Source games Cache is the thing that brings up lag spikes which you have to erase from time to time.
But it may not be the problem, so yeah.

For example on my part, when something explodes (eg a grenade or rpg) my game goes lagging nuts for 10 seconds. Could be the particle system doing that, conflicting with cache. Didn't validate that for a while since was using steam stuff non-stop, so yh.
