Both of those are models from source itself (the Sherman is from DoD i think) so theyd be legal to use. Although i do agree, the sherman needs to be made to look like its made from scrap metal (aluminum/steel plates, salvaged combine armor, etc).

The rebels, having access to old soviet silos and the contents therein, would, if anything, try to get a missile online with a high explosive (though non nuclear) payload. Makes sense that rebels would recycle the leftovers of combat. If anything, the combine would be using dead rebels for soylent green, so they wouldnt be harvesting anything, not even guns. The rebels still need the same stuff, but by scale. Rebel stuff is weaker and cheaper but faster to build. Thus...

Look at a bus. Where are you going to put a turret on it without making it unstable to turn at high speeds. Well, theres 2 (actually 3) thumper sizes, small, and large. The small has a minor radius, the large has a larger radius, and the citadel has a city sized radius. Though i say they make the radius larger, since it pretty much is as wide (radius wise) as it is tall.
